Coachwhips & Bangers vs. Fuckers

John Dwyer's Coachwhips are about as raw as rock & roll can get; lo-fi recordings, power chords left right and centre and so much treble on Dwyer's guitar that the music bursts out of the speakers and literally assaults your eardrums. The furious pace of the record is summed up in it's less than 20 minute running time but those 20 minutes are 20 you'll enjoy each and every one of, that is what Dwyer tries to assure. The keyboard skills of Val-Tronic are put to you use perfectly the keys are played at furious pace throughout but act to set the rhythm more than anything else. As for the album's vocals you really do have them driven at you with force, I saw it best described as if Dwyer was "singer through the reciever of a demolished telephone." Val even joins in on the vocals in the final track "Goodnight, Goodbuy" where the band make sure their audience have enjoyed themselves and finish just the way they begun.

All in all the album is something that everyone should hear just because it's unlikely anyone has really tried anything quite the same as it before, especially not the decision to limit the album to twenty minutes in length which, incidentally, improves the album ten fold. After it ends you'll want to hear it again right away, if it went on for much longer though you could easily find yourself bored of the assault you undergo.
