CoCo Rosie & La Maison de Mon Reve

Parisian sisters Sierra and Bianca Cassidy have put together a lazy record which has a name that literally means "the house of my dream." The album is beautifully melancholy and has been touted as something that combines HipHop and Blues but you definitely find far more of a blues influence in their lo-fi guitar tones and harmonies. The passionate delivery throughout helps the fact that the lyrics aren't exactly amazing but the simplicity of CoCo Rosie is really the entire attraction, especially when you consider the vast range of unconventional instruments they use throughout, even opening the album with an alarm clock sounding and ending the first track with the sway off a rusty swing. The way CoCo Rosie avoid being pigeonholed into a genre is utterly effortless and the enthusiasm they possess for creating something beautiful is fully evident throughout. If they can move on past the idea of just making something they can look back on as a beautiful album they've made and instead create an album with more artistic credibility in the future, something to really cap off their romantic, soothing and ultimately the stereotypically Parisian sound with the terrific production on "La Maison de Mon Reve" then we will all be in for one hell of a treat.
